Switching from Patient Desk AI to Balaay: An Honest Comparison
What Balaay does and does not do relative to Patient Desk AI, with no savings figure — because their pricing is not something we have verified.
Long-form analysis on dental practice management from the Balaay blog — front-desk operations, patient scheduling, no-shows and recall, and how AI receptionists fit into a practice’s existing phone workflow.
Balaay is an AI receptionist for businesses that run on calls. Balaay is an AI receptionist for businesses that run on calls. It learns a business from that business’s own website, answers its phone, holds the conversation, takes the next step where it can, and records what it actually did.
This page used to quote a monthly price for Patient Desk AI and compute an annual saving from it. We have not verified their pricing, so both are gone.
Why there is no savings figure on this page
This post previously stated a monthly base and a per-minute rate for Patient Desk AI, and derived an annual saving from them, quoted to the dollar.
We have not verified that pricing against Patient Desk AI's own published rates. Every comparison page on this site says so, and this post contradicted them by quoting a figure and then doing arithmetic on it. The figure and the arithmetic are both gone.
Balaay's pricing is published: $29/mo for Starter, $79/mo for Growth, $149/mo for Scale, with every per-minute overage rate on the pricing page. Ask Patient Desk AI for a current quote and compare it against those.
The other claim that was here
The migration section said that in our experience 95% or more of practices verify Balaay's performance within seven days and proceed to cutover, with the remaining 5% extending the parallel run.
There is no such experience. Balaay has no customers, so there were no practices, no seven days and no 95%. Removed.
What Patient Desk AI does that Balaay does not
This is the part worth reading before switching, and it is not short. Patient Desk AI describes real-time insurance eligibility verification, outbound payment-collection calls, and direct practice-management integrations.
- Insurance eligibility verification against a payer. Balaay answers which plans you accept, from the list you give us. It does not check a patient's coverage.
- Outbound calling, including payment collection. Balaay answers inbound calls only.
- Practice-management write-back. Balaay does not write into any PMS today; the booking is handed to your team to enter.
- Rescheduling and cancellation on the call. Those callers go to your staff.
What Balaay does differently
A shorter list, and deliberately so.
- Publishes its pricing, including every overage rate, without a sales call.
- Answers a live demo call on the website, so you can hear it before talking to anyone.
- Month to month, with no annual commitment.
- Deterministic detection of urgent symptoms, rather than leaving that to the model's judgement on the day.
Who should not switch
If you rely on insurance eligibility verification or on outbound collection calls, Balaay does not replace what you have and switching would be a downgrade. The same applies if the appointment landing in your PMS automatically is something your workflow depends on.
That covers a lot of practices, and saying so is more useful than a savings figure we cannot substantiate.
Questions

What does Balaay cost?
$29/mo, $79/mo and $149/mo, with every per-minute overage rate published. Concierge setup is optional.

No. It answers which plans you accept from the list you provide. It does not check a patient's eligibility with a payer.
