Balaay vs Weave
An evidence-labelled comparison of Balaay and Weave for a dental practice: what each is verified to do on an inbound call, published pricing where it exists, where Weave is the better choice, and where Balaay is. Last verified 2026-08-19.
Weave is All-in-one practice communications platform (phones, messaging, payments, reviews) with AI front-office automation. Weave's published pricing starts at from $199/mo (per-tier pricing on request); Balaay's voice receptionist is $199/mo. The honest summary: You want a broad communications suite — phones, two-way texting, payments and reviews from one vendor — or you are replacing your phone system anyway. Weave is the better choice for that, and it is not close. Balaay does not compete on breadth and does not try to. Your phone system is fine and the only gap is that calls go unanswered after hours and at overflow. Buying a whole communications platform to fix that is more change and more cost than the problem needs. Every competitor fact on this page carries a label saying how it was verified, and the facts were last checked on 2026-08-19.
Balaay is an AI voice receptionist for dental practices. It answers the practice’s phone calls, books the appointment and texts the patient a confirmation, and escalates urgent calls to staff using rules the practice defines.
What Weave is
Weave is All-in-one practice communications platform (phones, messaging, payments, reviews) with AI front-office automation. Its own stated target buyer: Practices that want to consolidate phones, patient texting, payments, reviews and scheduling with one vendor, and are replacing a phone system anyway.
Pricing
Balaay: $129/mo for the chat receptionist, $199/mo for the voice receptionist, plus a one-time setup fee. Published in full.
Weave: Weave publishes "starting from $199 per month" and names three tiers — Pro, Elite, Ultimate — but per-tier pricing requires contacting sales.
The $199 floor is on Weave’s own pricing page. Third-party reports of the real all-in cost vary very widely — from around $249 to over $1,000 per location per month depending on tier, hardware and add-ons — and they contradict each other, so we do not state any of them as fact. Weave also sells phone hardware separately. Get a written quote.

Capability comparison
Read the right-hand column before the middle one. "Not found" means we could not verify it from public sources — it does not mean the vendor lacks the feature, and we will not present it as though it does. "Company claim" means the vendor says it about itself and we have not independently confirmed it.

Where Weave is the better choice
Listed first, deliberately. If one of these matters to your practice, stop reading and go and talk to them.
- Vastly broader product. Weave is a phone system, patient messaging platform, payments processor and review tool. Balaay answers calls. If you want one vendor for all of it, Weave is the better fit and Balaay is not a substitute.
- Two-way patient texting, which Balaay does not have.
- Payments and reviews built in.
- An established public company with a large installed base — a materially lower vendor risk than a pre-pilot product.
- Owns TrueLark’s AI front-desk technology outright following the 2025 acquisition.
Choose Weave when: You want a broad communications suite — phones, two-way texting, payments and reviews from one vendor — or you are replacing your phone system anyway. Weave is the better choice for that, and it is not close. Balaay does not compete on breadth and does not try to.
Where Balaay is the better choice
- Does not require replacing your phone system — calls forward to Balaay and patients keep dialling your existing number.
- Publishes a complete price list; Weave publishes a floor and quotes the rest.
- No hardware to buy.
- Far narrower and cheaper if call answering is the only thing you actually need.
Choose Balaay when: Your phone system is fine and the only gap is that calls go unanswered after hours and at overflow. Buying a whole communications platform to fix that is more change and more cost than the problem needs.
What Balaay does not do
Every comparison page on this site carries this section, because a comparison in which the author has no weaknesses is an advertisement.
- No production-verified practice management system integration. Balaay does not write appointments into Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental or anything else today. Your team enters the appointment.
- No rescheduling or cancellation on the call — those callers are handed to your staff.
- English only.
- No two-way patient texting; confirmations and reminders are outbound only.
- No insurance eligibility verification against a payer.
- No published customer outcomes. Balaay is pre-pilot, and several competitors have named practices with figures attached.
